Movers and Shakers: IPG, OMD, Pac Mags, Guardian

Adland is full of big moves at the moment. Here are the movers and shakers of this week:

IPG Mediabrands shakes up top tier - new COO and CFO

IPG Mediabrands has appointed Dan Johns as chief operating officer of the group as Reg Davidson steps up to become regional CFO. Johns will have direct oversight group operations and new product development. Johns, a former CEO of Ikon Communications, joined Mediabrands as group commercial director in May 2013. Two executives have been promoted to support Johns.

Hugo Cutrone, also previously at UM, has been appointed business operations director at Mediabrands and will lead several multi-business product initiatives in development. Read more here.

Steedman to lead new WPP media arm

Industry veteran John Steedman has been appointed to the newly created role of chair of WPP Media Services Australia and New Zealand in the newly combined WPP AUNZ group.

Steedman, who is also a director on the board of WPP AUNZ, will be tasked with working with the group’s media agency leads to develop an overarching business strategy for its combined media business. Read more here.

OMD poaches Initiative London's global innovation lead

OMD has appointed Lee Ramsay to the role of chief strategy officer. Ramsey, who begins in July, was most recently global innovation lead at Initiative in the UK and has strong credentials in strategy. Ramsay will lead strategy and product across the OMD Australia client base. Read more here.

Pacific Magazine’s Fiona Legdin exits after 11 years

Pacific Magazines has announced publisher of its weekly brands, Fiona Legdin, will exit the business after 11 years. Legdin has been the publisher of Pacific Magazine’s flagship title New Idea, That’s life!, Who and Famous, which announced its move to a digital-only title earlier this month, since 2013. Guardian taps Zenith's Aaron Michie to lead branded content

Aaron Michie, former chief innovation officer at Zenith has left the agency to head up The Guardian’s branded content division Guardian Labs. It's understood that Michie left Zenith last month after four years with the agency. He is tasked with growing the branded content division and overseeing the delivery of contents strategy. AnalogFolk names strategy lead

AnalogFolk has named former Razorfish head of strategy, Ben Hourahine, as its strategy partner. Hourahine will be tasked with overall leadership of the agency’s strategic output, digital transformation, social and content marketing, customer experience, brand and communications strategy, and business innovation. Outbrain promotes Sigrid Kirk

Newly promoted managing director of Outbrain Asia Pacific, Ayal Steiner, has appointed Sigrid Kirk to a new role as vice president of Outbrain’s Engage product across Asia Pacific. Steiner was appointed to his new role at the end of March, while Outbrain’s former regional director for Southeast Asia, India & New Markets, Ant Hearne, was promoted to a new role as vice president of global sales marketing. Goa appoints new media sales manager

Goa has appointed Lauren Everist as group media sales manager, researcher, analyst and strategist. Everist have more than 11 years of experience and has worked across top media suppliers including Seven Affiliate Sales, WIN NBN and News Corp. Read more here.

Bauer Xcel names consumer lead

Bauer Media has named women’s marketing specialist Jane Waterhouse as general manager for consumer at its Xcel Media division. Waterhouse will assume business ownership of key products in the Bauer Xcel digital Women’s Network. She joins Bauer from Sister Communications a marketing agency she founded seven years ago that specialises in engaging with women.

Eyeota creates new regional role

Eyeota has announced the appointment of co-founder, Trent Lloyd, to a newly created role, managing director, APAC. Eyeota is moving to a regional management structure to align themselves to the needs of different programmatic markets across the globe. Lloyd will now take responsibility for account management, sales, publisher acquisition and data supplier relations across the APAC region.
