AdNews wraps up the biggest pitch news and wins from the fortnight.

Tabcorp launches agency review

Wagering giant Tabcorp has kicked off a review of its agency arrangements, AdNews understands.

The RFP was released last week as part of a normal review process and encompasses media spend, sponsorship and creative services, with multiple agencies participating in the pitch.

OMD has handled Tabcorp's media planning and buying for more than two decades. The account was last reviewed in 2017, when the Omnicom agency retained the business alongside Atomic 212˚.

Samsung Australia puts media and creative under review

Samsung Australia is reviewing its media and creative accounts as part of a routine assessment of its agency roster.

Clemenger Group, which has held both accounts since 2020, is the incumbent.

"Samsung Australia works closely with a team of great agencies across multiple marketing and media disciplines,” a Samsung Australia spokesperson told AdNews.

“As part of our usual process, we periodically review our roster to ensure we continue to drive the best outcomes for our business.”

KFC creative pitch nears end

KFC Australia’s creative pitch is close to the end as Special Group competes with long-time incumbent Ogilvy.

Sources confirmed the pitch will close soon.

"From time to time, KFC may engage with different agencies on different projects within the campaign or promotions space,” a KFC Spokesperson told AdNews

“This does not represent a shift in our long-term, valued agency partnerships.”

Ogilvy has held the creative account since 1994.

Tourism Australia seeks agencies for Japan brief

Tourism Australia has issued a request for tender for PR and social media services in Japan, AdNews can reveal.

The work will be aimed at maintaining and growing Japan's $1.4 billion inbound market value, Australia’s seventh largest.

The government agency is seeking either one integrated agency or two specialist agencies to manage public relations and social media operations in the Japanese market over a three-year term, starting from August, 2026.

The scope covers mainstream and trade media relations, executive thought leadership, influencer programs and management of localised social channels including Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.

Weave wins Arts Centre Melbourne pitch

Brand and design agency Weave has been appointed, following a competitive pitch, to create a new brand identity for Arts Centre Melbourne.

Arts Centre Melbourne is Australia's largest performing arts centre, staging more than 1,000 events and welcoming more than two million people each year across its three major venues: the Theatres Building beneath the venue's iconic Spire, Hamer Hall, and the Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

The appointment comes as Arts Centre Melbourne undergoes renewal as part of the Melbourne Arts Precinct Transformation, Australia's largest cultural infrastructure project being delivered by the Victorian Government.

Tourism Australia opens UK and US pitch

Tourism Australia has launched a tender for PR and social media services in the UK and US, seeking agencies that can generate "disproportionate attention" for Australian travel, AdNews can reveal.

The government body wants an agency that can deliver strategic planning and market intelligence, including annual plans tailored to each market, while developing earned and owned social campaigns supported by quarterly “attention spike” concepts.

They will also be required to manage advocacy and influencer programs with at least one talent engagement per quarter, integrating seamlessly within Tourism Australia’s Agency Village structure alongside creative, media and digital partners.

Orange Line wins DIYblinds pitch

The consulting-led digital marketing agency will lead paid social, data and analytics, working alongside DIYblinds’ in-house performance marketing team.

DIYblinds sells made-to-measure window furnishings online.

“DIYblinds is a standout Australian success story, and we're thrilled to be partnering with a team that’s already achieving impressive results,” said David Einstein, co-founder of Orange Line.
