Virgin Mobile's Grumpy Santa campaign has topped the most watched YouTube ads in Australia for spring 2016, alongside other fan favourites, including MLA's spring diversity campaign and Coca-Cola's Olympic spot.

Google ANZ head of brand advertising Richard Wolstenholme says the videos featured in the Australian YouTube Ads Leaderboard for spring 2016, which looks at ads from July to September, highlight the diversity of content people are choosing to engage with on YouTube.

"We see that attention is not limited to a 15 or 30 second spot - Dove’s ‘Beauty on your own terms’ commercial and Meat and Livestock Australia’s ‘You Never Lamb Alone’ show that audiences respond to longer form content when it is unique and engaging... Whether it is brand or retail focused, long or short, made for web or multi-channel.

"In this leaderboard, nine of the top 10 advertisements come from Australia, suggesting that local advertisers are winning on YouTube."
