Nine signs football sponsors

Nine has signed a raft of sponsors for the 2015 International Champions Cup (ICC) Australia presented by Audi.

To support the Real Madrid CF, Manchester City FC and Roma games this month Harvey Norman, Telstra, Crown Bet, Samsung and Bank of Queensland as well as Audi have come on board as network sponsors, in a month-long celebration of football that also features matches between Liverpool FC and Australian A-League teams Brisbane Roar and Adelaide United.

Initiative Perth names Clive Bingwa MD

Current MD of IPG Mediabrands Perth Clive Bingwa has been given additional responsibility as the MD for Initiative Perth. In addition, current Initiative Perth MD Chris O'Keefe will take up the MD role of Initiative's sister agency UM in Melbourne.

Bingwa joined IPG Mediabrands in January this, previously having been a partner and national media director of 303Lowe where he worked for almost 16 years. He will take up his additional role as on 1 August.

Initiative Australia CEO Lee Leggett said: “Clive has become very familiar with the Initiative Perth operations through his close working relationship with Chris.”

“There will be a seamless handover of duties and I am looking forward to working with Clive into the future.”

Hallway wins Birdsnest

Independent agencies The Hallway has picked up the account for online fashion retailer called Birdsnest. The agency has already began work on the account and is tasked with growing the brand, as well as crafting a long-term communications strategy.

Birdsnest founder Jane Cay said: “Our customers are at the centre of everything we do – from their very first interaction with us and every touch-point from then on. Our entire customer service approach is tailored to the individual at the other end and we believe this has gone a long way in the company’s success to date.

“Our focus moving forwards is to continue to grow our customer base and reach a new set of Birdsnest fans.”

It follows other recent wins for the agency with Italian tomato brand Mutti joining clients Google, Tourism & Events Queensland, Jordans Cereal, Ryvita, NSW Government and Fuji Xerox.

The Hallway CEO Jules Hall said: “In the ever-competitive market of online fashion, Birdsnest as a business case study stands head and shoulders above the rest. We are thrilled to be working with such an entrepreneurial group of women on their long-term vision for the brand.”

LGsuper appoints chief digital officer

LGsuper has appointed Brett Barber to the newly-created role of chief digital officer as it pushes ongoing strategic digital transformation.

In his new role, barber will be responsible for LGsuper's IT and marking divisions. He has nearly 20 years' experience in IT, marketing and business development with roles at AMP Limited, SingTel, Optus and Suncorp-Metway.
LGsuper CEO David Todd said the new appointment recognised that IT-driven innovation would help the fund drive additional member value.

"Technology will play an increasing role in the ever-changing superannuation landscape by driving operational efficiencies and member engagement," Todd said. "In creating this role, we are also cognisant of how IT and marketing functions can work more closely together to achieve these goals."
