Foxtel and Seven West's subscription video on demand (SVOD) platform, Presto, has launched with a tiered price point starting at $9.99.
As tipped by AdNews yesterday, the joint venture has launched its entertainment option, holding its TV content.
It told customers today they can now access TV content, known as Presto Entertainment, for $9.99 per month.
Presto's movie catalogue is available at $9.99, and there is also the option to bundle both movies and TV content together for $14.99 per month.
Details on the pricing structure of the new product come as fellow SVOD players such as, Stan, Quickflix, and Fetch position ahead of the arrival of Netflix in Australia, rumoured to be on March 31.
So far only Stan has a non-tiered pricing system, putting on a $10 per month price point for full access.
In terms of content, Presto will be leveraging its content deal with US network HBO to make shows such as The Sopranos, Entourage, The Wire, and Boardwalk Empire to be its point of difference.
However, it will not be able to serve Game of Thrones on the new platform, with HBO pulling SVOD rights to the show worldwide as it readies its own push into the SVOD space.
Meanwhile, Stan has heavily promoted a deal with Sony Entertainment, picking up lifetime exclusive Australian rights to Breaking Bad follow-up Better Call Saul, along with the exclusive SVOD rights for Breaking Bad.
Netflix will be heading to Australia with a slew of its original content, but not tentpole shows Orange is the New Black or House of Cards, with the rights tied up with Foxtel.
Quickflix will still have access to its back catalogue content, but it is unclear whether they will be able to pick up new content on series such as Game of Thrones with other SVOD players busy wrapping up content deals.
