OMD Melbourne's former managing director Margie Reid has joined creative indie shop Thinkerbell, taking a managing partner role.

The long-serving media boss left OMD last month, taking 11 years of experience with her.

Reid held the MD Melbourne role at OMD for three years, first joining the company in 2006 as business director.

Her appointment at Thinkerbell had been speculated since the agency announced it was seeking someone for a top managing role two months ago.

“We’ve been talking for a while and I guess what made the decision to join them an easy one was their focus on bringing together the very best of marketing sciences and brilliant creative minds," Reid says.

“What I’ll be bringing to the party is a broad understanding of the marketing and media landscape, strong management skills, and perhaps upweighting the ‘measured’ component of the ‘measured magic’ proposition."

Thinkerbell was founded by Jim Ingram, Ben Couzens and Adam Ferrier in May this year after they exited Cummins&Partners. PwC recently acquired a stake in the agency.

Ingram says the agency was inundated with responses but Reid was the obvious choice for Thinkerbell.

"Margie brings with her a proven track record of leading a happy agency to business success, as well as sharing the same sense of wonder and excitement about the possibilities of Thinkerbell," he says.

Ferrier adds: "Margie radiates integrity and a strong sense of self – valuable qualities in an increasingly complex and complicated business landscape.

"In Margie we have someone we totally believe in and we think our clients will too. Margie will be joining as an equity partner in the agency, and along with PwC’s minority investment, we’re very excited about the people we have on board making our agency a success.”

Since launching, Thinkerbell has one the creative account for 13CABS and is working across several of PwC's clients.
