Movers & Shakers: Tribal, Cadreon, DDB Sydney

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week.

Tribal poaches Mindshare strategy talent
Tribal Australia has hired Caitlin Lloyd as national head of strategy, as well as four other executives. Lloyd joins the DDB Group agency from Mindshare where she was most recently group strategy director working with clients including Foxtel and IAG. She has a career spanning London, Melbourne and Sydney. In addition, Tribal has hired Kimberley Tong as an account executive, Zoe Andrews as a digital producer, Vincent Salinos as a designer and Shirley Zhang as a developer.

Clay Gill joins Cadreon
Former general manager of The Trade Desk, Clay Gill, has been named as the CEO of Cadreon Australia, an IPG Mediabrands adtech unit. Gill had headed up The Trade Desk for Australia and New Zealand for six months. In his new role he now reports to Yean Cheong, head of Cadreon APAC.

DDB Sydney promotes Tara Ford
Tara Ford has been promoted to chief creative officer at DDB Sydney. Ford had previously been the agency’s executive creative director for two years. During her time at the agency, she has worked on brands such as McDonald’s, Virgin Australia and Volkswagen. Throughout her career, she has worked in agencies across London, Amsterdam, Melbourne and Sydney, including Wieden + Kennedy and TBWA. 

Clemenger BBDO’s new creative duo
Dal Evans de Almeida and Michael Hughes have joined the creative team at Clemenger BBDO Melbourne. The pair fly in from AMVBBDO in London, where they worked for brands such as Snickers, Virgin Holidays and The National Lottery. They recently won the Cannes Grand Prix for Trash Isles.

DAN appoints data chief
Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN) has appointed Patrick Darcy to the role of chief data and technology officer for Australia and NEw Zealand. Darcy joins from Cadreon Australia where he was CEO for less than a year. Prior to his role as CEO at the agency, he was MD for more than two years. Darcy has also previously worked at RadiumOne and Microsoft.

OMD Sydney's new Suncorp head
OMD Sydney has named Declan O’Dwyer as the head of Suncorp. O’Dwyer joins the agency from UM Sydney, where he was group director across several big brands. He has more than 12 years’ experience working across categories such as finance, telco and retail. In other appointments at the Suncorp team, Thad King and Philippa Moig have been named business directors, Emily Smith as interactive director, Lisa Leach as head of strategy and David Clugston as head of analytics.

RedEngine SCC expands team
Matt Daunt has been appointed as client partner at independent creative agency RedEngine. Daunt has more than 20 years' experience in marketing and advertising working in London, Los Angeles and Sydney. He has worked at Saatchi & Saatchi London, AGI Solution, M&C Saatchi Sydney and BWM Dentsu Sydney. In another hire, Chloe McCormack joins the team as account director. McCormack launched her career in advertising with Havas Worldwide in Melbourne. She has since worked at Isobar Melbourne and other agencies while juggling the marketing of her own skincare brand Srsly Honey.

VCCP boss exits
VCCP Sydney CEO Andrew Holt has departed the agency after three years. Holt had previously worked at Clemenger Group, first with Colenso BBDO Auckland and then as MD of Clemenger BBDO in both Sydney and Wllington. The agency says his departure is by mutual agreement.

VMLY&R talent joins startup world
The former head of strategy at VMLY&R Bryan Wilmot has left to join startup Stake as its global head of marketing. Wilmot joins the stock market startup after one year with the WPP-owned creative agency. He previously spent more than six years at Leo Burnett, where he held a number of roles including senior strategist.

Hearts & Science nabs Mindshare talent
Omnicom Group’s Hearts & Science has nabed Mindshare’s Gail Halbert as its client lead for Hyundai. Halbert spent seven years at the WPP-owned agency where she held a number of roles including digital investment lead for Sydney. She has also worked at Carat and Phd.

Wunderman Thompson new PR
Edelle Gettings has been named as the new PR & communications manager for WPP’s Wunderman Thompson. Gettings had previously been director of communications for IAA Young Professionals for six months. She has also worked at creative agency The Works for more than two years.

Sydney indie Slik appoints first ECD
Simon Jarosz has been appointed by independent agency Slik as its first executive creative director. Jarosz is an award-winning creative with more than 20 years’ experience working in advertising and design. A former head of AWARD School, he joins Slik after more than three years as national creative director at MediaCom. He has also worked at JWT, M&C Saatchi, The Monkeys and as digital creative director at Saatchi & Saatchi.
