MediaCom Melbourne MD Peter Barrie resigns

28 July 2014

Peter Barrie, managing director of MediaCom's Melbourne office, has left the agency. It is understood Barrie resigned mid-week with MediaCom deciding to announce the departure late Friday.

A statement from the agency said Barrie, who reported to MediaCom Australia CEO Mark Pejic, has “moved on to pursue other opportunities”.

His duties are being picked up by the Melbourne leadership team of Gareth Nicholls, Brett Elliott, Luke Simpson, Mike Deane and Anny Havercroft, until a replacement is found.

Barrie joined MediaCom as a new business director in February 2012, becoming managing director of its Melbourne office in January 2013. Barrie helped the agency hold on to major clients including Specsavers and CUB during that year. The agency then lost RACV and resigned Pac Brands, but won CGU and Fonterra.

Pejic said: “Firstly I would like to personally thank Peter for all his hard work and dedication to the company, Peter Barrie’s departure does not in any way interfere with our ambitious plans for the future of our business in Melbourne. We regret to see Peter leave the company and wish him well.”
