Lion’s Beer, Spirits & Wine Australia business has announced that Host will join its agency roster following a a competitive pitch.

Host will be one of three agencies to focus on the creative work for Lion with responsibility for one of Australia’s highest selling beer brands, Tooheys.

Matt Tapper, national marketing director, Lion Beer, Spirits & Wine Australia, said: “The pitching process was extremely competitive and in the end we chose the agency whose ideas aligned with our ultimate vision: to drive the growth of our brands and the beer category as a whole.

“Throughout the process Host was incredibly consistent and held true to its values. We are really looking forward to working with them. They simply presented the best idea.”

Host CEO Anthony Freedman said: “It’s a great way to start the year joining Lion’s agency village on an iconic brand like Tooheys. We are really looking forward to being part of the next chapter in one of Australia’s most loved and famous beers.”

This announcement comes as Lion appointed Ogilvy to its Hahn brand late last year.

The creative accounts for other Lion brands James Boag and James Squire are still out for pitch.
