Nic Hodges has joined Foxtel to lead commercial innovation.

Hodges was formerly head of commercial innovation at News Corp for two years, and exited at the end of 2016. He joined Foxtel at the end of May.

A large part of Hodges' remit at Foxtel will be around developing its push into addressable advertising on both its digital assets and its linear television platform.

Prior to News Corp, Hodges was head of innovation and technology at MediaCom for four years.

He will work alongside Sharb Farjami, Foxtel’s director of content commercialisation, who also joined from News Corp where he was chief commercial officer.

Foxtel is part-owned by News Corp and there is a history of senior execs switching between the two. Current Foxtel CEO Peter Tonagh was previously CEO of News Corp.

Foxtel has just unveiled a new brand identity, and revamped SVOD platform Foxtel now in a bid to better compete against streaming platforms and make it more accessible to more Aussies.

The pay TV network says it's the biggest strategic shift in two decades.
