News Corp has hired former MediaCom head of innovation and technology, Nic Hodges, to take on its newly created role of head of commercial innovation.

Hodges is tasked with applying his agency experience to drive commercial innovation with News Corp Australia's clients.

He will report to News Corp Australia’s national sales director Sharb Farjami, and of Hodges's appointment Farjami said: “As we build upon our position as Australia’s leading media organisation, genuine innovation and an intimate understanding of our audience and customers’ needs are critical to our ongoing success.

“This appointment is an important step towards realising this. Nic is a seasoned talent who has a clear understanding of advertisers’ needs and a demonstrated capability to develop solutions for them.”

Hodges added: “There's never been a more exciting time to be in a media company. The landscape is changing daily, with new technology and new behaviours creating massive opportunities. It's great to be joining a team that understands the landscape, and is looking to lead the business and its clients into the future. I'm really looking forward to being part of it."

Prior to joining News Corp and working at MediaCom, Hodges held roles at Clemenger BBDO and M&C Saatchi.
