Former Fairfax exec and PwC digital lead head to Facebook

Facebook has hired Fairfax's Melissa Verner Green and PwC's Jason Juma-Ross as it looks to bolster the way it works with clients and agencies

Verner Green has been appointed to the newly created role of head of agency Melbourne where she will run a new team dedicated to agency relationships in the city. Facebook has earmarked Melbourne as a key part of its Australian and New Zealand business strategy over the next 12 months noting: “Its an area where we will be increasing our investment.”

Verner Green has more than 20 years' experience in media and joins from a role as Victorian sales director at Fairfax Media.

Juma-Ross joins Facebook as head of telecommunications, technology and entertainment where he will help businesses in the technology and telecomms space drive brand awareness through the platform.

He joins from a role as lead partner for PwC's digital intelligence unit and is currently on the board of directors for ADMA.

Juma-Ross has more than 20 years' experience in digital and strategy.

Both he and Verner Green will report directly to Facebook Australia and New Zealand managing director William Easton in their new roles.

“Melissa and Jason will play a critical role in our efforts to help brands connect with the over 13 million Australian who use Facebook,” Easton said.

“These hires are part of our strategy for continued growth and investment in Australia.”
