Amazon Australia has confirmed its new country manager of Australia operations will be Rocco Braeuniger.

Putting industry speculation to bed, with some saying the likes of of ex-IPG Mediabrands boss Henry Tajer and former Myer deputy CEO and chief customer officer Daniel Bracken could be in the running, the role has been taken by German-born Braeuniger who joined Amazon in 2006.

An Amazon spokesperson confirmed the move to AdNews this morning, saying Braeuniger, currently director of consumables at Amazon.de, will move to the role of country manager for Amazon.com.au in the coming months.

AdNews revealed earlier this week that Amazon was also hunting 230 office staff Down Under; as it eyes the music streaming market, AI and more.

“Over time, we will bring thousands of new jobs to Australia and millions of dollars of investment”, says Amazon’s director of operations for Australia, Robert Bruce. See: “This is just the start. We'll bring thousands of new jobs to Australia".

Amazon has also launched a review of its US$1 billion global media buying business.
