Our Young Gun profile takes a look at some of the young talent across the advertising, adtech, marketing and media sector in Australia. It aims to shed light on the varying roles, people and companies across the buzzing industry.

Today we speak to 1000heads social media manager Hannah Roberts.

Time at the company:
Five months.

How long have you been in the industry?
Just over five years

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I majored in PR at university but started off in the industry working in marketing at NZ International Comedy Festival. Social was just a small part of my job but I loved it. After a couple years I was offered the opportunity to join a social agency in Auckland and jumped at the chance. I recently moved to Melbourne and am now looking after a range of social media campaigns and activations at 1000heads.

Who is guides you day to day?
My first manager, Lauren Whitney. She’s one of the best people I know and has taught me a lot - most importantly to have absolute confidence in myself. My go-to for both career and life advice.

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
The ever-changing nature of social – you never know which new formats and platforms are around the corner that could change the game and the job completely.

And the biggest challenge?
People underestimating the power and value of social media. Some of the best campaigns consider social as an important part of the mix upfront, it shouldn’t be an afterthought.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I’m a massive foodie, so working in a senior role with food or drink brands would be the dream!

Where do you turn for inspiration?
Scrolling through all the social media platforms. I couldn’t be in social marketing without keeping across what other brands are doing! I also ensure I’m up to date with social news – particularly wersm.com for their daily email and Matt Navarra for his Tweet updates.

My favourite advert is:
Snickers Hungerithm. Their combined use of social behaviour and data was genius and aligned so perfectly with their brand.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
My most notable skill is being able to fold origami cranes, it’s super calming.

In five years' time I'll be:
TikTok famous.
