Meet Richie Strahan, an oil rig worker from Western Australia who is being given a second shot at love in Ten's new season of The Bachelor.

If Strahan looks somewhat familiar to fans it's because he was a popular contestant on last year's The Bachelorette, making the final three before being booted by Sam Frost.

We're told the 30-year-old, who looks like a slightly less ginger version of Prince Harry (squint your eyes) is into motorbikes, fishing, surfing, camping and Aussie Rules - all quintessential traits of the alpha Aussie male.

AdNews has been told Strahan is a bit more 'boyish' than previous contestants, is genuinely down to earth, somewhat shy and takes more time to get to know each and every one of the 22 contestants trying to win his heart.

The Bachelor has been a hit for Ten, with the final episode picking up 1.48 million viewers. Similarly, The Bachelorette’s finale pulled 1.52 million viewers last year.

This season, Ten has promised even more extravagant dates than ever before, including a 'love platform' suspended over a cliff top that is sure to scare the daylights out of anyone who has a fear of heights.

“I guarantee the dates will be incredibly fun. The girls will be laughing the whole time they are with me,” says Strahan, who told News Corp he had taken a break from dating since being dumped on national television.

Now it is Strahan's turn to break hearts, although Ten has not yet publicly announced when the show starts.

Here's a first look at what you can expect on the new series of The Bachelor.
