M2m has picked up the Sony Pictures account from UM only days after Sony's electronics and PlayStation divisions left the OMD group for MediaCom.

Last week, AdNews reported m2m, part of the OMD Group, was a frontrunner for Sony Pictures. AdNews understands this has now been confirmed but all agencies involved have declined to comment.

In the past year, Sony Pictures in Australia had a media spend of $8 million, according to Nielsen figures.

Sony's agency consolidation is part of a global review that kicked off in May 2015.
