Saatchi & Saatchi has been named the creative agency of record for tax accountants H&R Block.

The agency will be tasked with growing H&R Block's place in the Australian market and to developing creative content and strategy for the brand.

H&R Block marketing director Melinda Spencer says the brand is undergoing a “transformation program” and that Saatchi & Saatchi will be integral to this.

“We are looking to implement a transformation program with the end goal to provide more to customers than they might typically expect from a tax accountant,” Spencer says.

“Saatchi & Saatchi’s creative approach to this growth project is fantastic and they are obvious partners for us on this journey.”

Spencer had previously been Luxottica Australia vice president marketing, during the time Saatchi & Saatchi had created the award-winning Penny the Pirate campaign for OPSM.

Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Michael Rebel says the agency is looking forward to working with Spencer on a new challenge.

“H&R Block have ambitious plans and an innovative creative appetite,” Rebelo says. “Being appointed to work with H&R Block and being re-united with Melinda Spencer is an exciting time for the agency.”

It follows the recent announcement that Saatchi & Saatchi has been appointed as the creative agency of record to a new optical brand, George & Matilda.
