McCann Sydney has welcomed Roshni Hegerman back to the agency as executive strategy director, seeing her return from her APAC role at McCann China, Shanghai, where she was regional strategic lead for Coca-Cola.

Prior to her move to McCann China, Hegerman headed up McCann Australia’s strategic offering as head of strategic planning.

Hegerman’s career has also spanned roles from regional planning director at BBH India to Saatchi & Saatchi China and Los Angeles, 72 & Sunny in Los Angeles and BBDO Chicago.

Hegerman says the opportunity to join McCann Australia creative chairman Ben Lilley and national chief creative officer Pat Baron at the agency again was "too good to pass up".

“The agency’s vision and commitment to unashamedly be the best creative and effective agency across every client and every piece of work has never been stronger. This is especially important now in our current climate," Hegerman says.

"I’m looking forward to championing this and bringing both creativity and innovation to the heart of our strategic thinking, to help businesses and brands really understand the meaningful and tangible role they can play in people’s lives.”

Hegerman will lead the strategic offering for all of McCann’s key Sydney clients, including Coca-Cola, eBay, MasterCard, Microsoft, Menulog, Nestlé, Sanofi and the government.

“I’m fortunate to have worked with Roshni for almost a decade now across McCann Sydney and Melbourne and in her regional role in Shanghai," Lilley says.

"I couldn’t be more pleased to be welcoming her back to Australia. Roshni is a super-star and joins an equally stellar line-up of McCann leaders in both Sydney and our national operation.”

Lilley says Hegerman will also bring unique learnings from her work in China during the COVID-19 outbreak.

McCann will apply this experience to help its global and local Sydney clients navigate a strategic way forward as Australia emerges from the pandemic.

"Roshni’s a world class planner, a multilayered thinker who intuitively understands the power of emotion in communications," Baron says.

"Always fun and a joy to work with, Roshni brings energy and passion to everything she does.”

Hegerman’s return follows a string a major hires for McCann, including most recently Ben Coulson as chief creative officer, Caroline McLaughlin as senior business lead and Simon Gawn as client services director.

The hiring spree follows a series departures among McCann's leadership team including Spiller, Sydney managing director Hazelle Klønhammer, chief strategy officer Fran Clayton and Melbourne managing director Georgie Pownall shortly after Lilley assumed ownership of McCann Australia at the start of the year.
