R/GA Australia VP managing director Rebecca Bezzina has resigned from her role within the agency and is set to exit the business in March.

Bezzina will work with Tuomas Peltoniemi, EVP managing director APAC, over the coming months to transition responsibilities while the search for a new MD continues.

Bezzina was a "near-founding" member of R/GA Sydney, joining as client services director in 2013. After a stint as the Sydney MD for Cummins&Partners, she returned to the agency in 2016 as MD, spearheading two and half years of growth, marked by new business wins including the NRL and Wine Australia, and the expansion of longstanding relationships with Google, Telstra, Toyota and Samsung.

“At six years old, R/GA is still a young agency in Australia, but under Becs’ leadership we’ve come of age,” R/GA global CEO Sean Lyons said

“She leaves having set us up for continued success, but we’re saddened that she won’t be with us for the next phase. Her energy, fearlessness, humour and heart will be very much missed by all those who work with her.”

Under her leadership, the agency has also expanded and diversified its services through the addition of capabilities including a content studio and consulting arm, and opened a second Australian office in Melbourne.

“I’m so proud to have led R/GA in Australia, grateful for the trust placed in me by our clients and team, and for the journey we’ve been on together these past 5 years," Bezzina said.

"I’m looking forward to working closely with Tuomas in the coming months, before I begin to explore opportunities beyond the industry.”

R/GA recently took over the cover for the 2018 AdNews Annual, creating a work that addressed the issue of "people as the commodity".
