UnLtd’s Big Clash wrapped up in Sydney yesterday, with Team Tech, led by Unruly's Ricky Chanana, taking the trophy home on the day.

This year was the first time UnLtd hosted Lady Ballers, with Media Owners facing off Agencies.

The winner between the two was Agencies, led by PHD's Kathryn Furnari.

However, the day wasn’t about the competition between teams, but the industry coming together for UnLtd and its charity partners.

While there is still the Melbourne event to go, Sydney raised approximately $120,000.

“Thank you to the industry for coming together again on this special day,” UnLtd CEO Chris Freel said.
“Having the Lady Ballers teams has made this event complete.

“It really unites us all and breaks down rivalries to bring everybody together. It will also help us to save lives and give belief to kids who have never had that hope before. Well bowled to the 70+ organisations that got involved.”

To raise funds for the charities there was an auction held, followed by a party for players and spectators to cool off.

Next week UnLtd is taking the event to Melbourne, see here for the full details.

The first ever ladies match was a great success with the Media Agencies batting first and scoring 69. Zoe Crouch top scored with 19, Kate Holland hit 15 and captain Kathryn Furnari came in and hit her first two balls for 6 only to be bowled next ball. Bel Cook took 2-9 in an impressive over. Media Owners commenced their chase but were pinned back by some tight bowling and fell way short with the agencies taking the crown, winning by 39 runs.

In the men’s matches the first semi final saw the Tech Team overcome the Creatives with 3 balls to spare. Chris Wood and Lewis ‘Babyfaced Assasin’ Catlow impressing with the bat. Nick Jackson steadied the charge with a tight over including a wicket but the Creatives total of 80 just wasn’t enough. In the second semi-final a very high scoring match between Media Agencies and Media Owners went down to the very last ball. Agencies scored 113 off their 8 overs with Catlow and Ewing batting superbly. Chris Norris led the chase with a very quick fire 26 before retiring, but tight bowling from Tom Bartlam including 2 wickets pegged them back. Dan Favalaro made a great late 25 leaving captain Burbidge needing 4 off the last ball to tie. Unfortunately he couldn’t connect and agencies went through with a 3 run victory.

The men’s final took to the main square as the rain let up and what another tense affair it was. Woods again was sublime with the bat retiring for the second time with 28, ably assisted by Flanagan with 22, before a middle order wobble restricted the tech team to 82 from 10 overs. Confidence was high in the agency team and Catlow and Hammond put in an impressive opening stand but some super tight bowling in the middle of the innings (Atkinson and Chanana both impressive) swung the game back to the tech team and despite a heroic effort from Eustace, the important wicket of Bartlam was taken and tech held on to take the title for the first time and win by 5 runs.
