LG has appointed Omnicom-owned media agency PHD to its global media account, following a competitive pitch.

According to reports, the pitch was led by PHD Korea, with the incumbent agency Havas Media Group not participating in the review.

It is understood the account will also see PHD Australia pick up local duties for the account, adding to its string of recent wins such as Virgin Australia, the AFLTikTok and Singapore Airlines.

“The company is a perfect example of the truly global and iconic brands born out of Asia-Pacific, and we are excited to partner with them on their continued growth and success in over 50 international markets," PHD APAC CEO James Hawkins says.

Outside of the global account duties, Horizon Media handles LG's US media account, however, it is also believed that PHD has now assumed responsibility for that market as well.

Earlier this year, AdNews sat down with PHD Australia's managing director, Mark Jarrett, who reflected on the agency's emergence as one of the leading media agency's in the market, breaking out of its "rising star" status.

The agency boss also discussed the importance of its client retention approach, people-driven leadership and practical pitching strategy.
