Lee Ramsay starts his new role at OMD in July.

OMD has appointed Lee Ramsay to the role of chief strategy officer. Ramsey, who begins in July, was most recently global innovation lead at Initiative in the UK and has strong credentials in strategy.

Ramsay will lead strategy and product across the OMD Australia client base. His appointment follows recent strategic hires in Russ Mitchinson (head of strategy for McDonald's) and Michael Pilz (head of strategy for Telstra).

Ramsay has more than 17 years' experience in the media industry, working with some of the UK's biggest agencies - Universal McCann, Rocket, Starcom, Dazed & Confused, Frukt and Carat, where he became creative strategy director.

“Lee is one of the leading strategic media specialists on the global stage," says OMD Australia CEO Peter Horgan. "His range of experience across creative, strategy and communications planning is unparalleled.

"With a proven team in place at OMD we are very excited to work with Lee on steering the strategic direction of our clients and amplifying their communications strategies.”

Ramsay will report into Horgan and joins the executive team.
