A crowd of more than 800 media, marketing and advertising execs were treated to a surprise showbiz guest at today's TV Upfronts event.

In her first endeavour she resigned from Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, Yolanda Hadid has chosen Nine's newly rebranded women's network to work with on content.

Hadid’s first interview for 9Honey will be broadcast on A Current Affair later this week, with the star also agreeing to be a contributor to the 9Honey website over the coming months.

In an on-stage interview with Channel Nine journalist Leila Mckinnon, Hadid said she was looking forward to becoming part of the Honey community.

Hadid has gone from once having a crazy social butterfly-style life to being isolated, following her tragic diagnosis with Lyme disease. She recently announced her divorce from musician David Foster.

She said she has learnt to be on social media because of her children pushing her into it, sharing controversial images of her struggle with the illness.

She said she likes the idea of 9Honey being a community and touched on issues such as how loneliness is a big problem.

"Through 9Honey we can create some sort of community where people can come together ," Hadid said.

"Social media is the future so lets stay connected."
