News Corp has sold three titles from its homes portfolio to Bauer Media, including Inside Out, Country Style and HomeLife.com.au.
The move aims to position Bauer as the leading Australian publisher of homes and lifestyle content, across both print and digital.
The titles are added to Bauer's existing homes portfolio, Homes to Love, which includes House & Garden, Belle and Real Living.
It will be overseen by Bauer Homes editor-in-chief, Lisa Green, who has been at the helm of House & Garden since 2006.
“We’re thrilled to bring Inside Out, Country Style and HomeLife.com.au to Bauer," Bauer GM of publishing Fiorella Di Santo says.
"Although we already have a strong position in the homes category, this acquisition is a natural fit for us in terms of further deepening our category specialisation."
Real Living editor Elle Lovelock, Country Style and Homelife.com.au editor-in-chief Victoria Carey, and Inside Out acting editor Victoria Baker also remain in their roles. Associate publisher of homes Claire Bradley will remain at News for a new opportunity. Tanya Buchanan will continue to lead Belle.
The Inside Out, Country Style and HomeLife.com.au editorial teams will be making the move to Bauer's Park Street offices from June. Bauer confirms the full team of 17 will transition from News Corp and no redundancies will be made.
Bauer CEO Paul Dykzeul says it's Bauer's first local acquisition since 2015 and shows its focus on its five core categories, which include women’s entertainment and lifestyle, homes, food, fashion, health and beauty, and motoring and trader.
"We are extremely pleased to announce this news, as it’s a key milestone in delivering against our core strategic priorities, our strategic business growth and our commitment to invest in deep category specialisation," he says.
When Dykzeul took over Bauer Australia from Nick Chan last year, he signalled big shake ups at the business, including restructures and local acquisitions.
News Corp CEO Michael Miller says the ex-News Corp titles will have a strong publishing future with Bauer.
The first Bauer print issues of Country Style, Inside Out and Home Life will be on sale 12 July 2018, 26 July 2018 and 20 August 2018 respectively.
