Weed to exit

Keith Weed is retiring as Unilever's chief marketing and communications officer after 35 years at the FMCG giant. The news comes a week after it was revealed Alan Jope will succeed Paul Polman as CEO. Weed is one of the world’s most high profile marketers, taking a bold stance on dodgy practices in influencer marketing, advocated for better measurement from digital platforms and championed for greater diversity in advertising. Gumtree Australia appoints new head of marketing

Gumtree Australia’s has appointed Amanda Behre as head of marketing. Behre has almost two decades of experience in consumer and trade marketing, garnered in Australia and the US, and has spent the past five years at Wotif and Expedia, heading up brand and communications. Her primary responsibilities will be to oversee all of Gumtree’s communications channels including brand, PR, digital, performance marketing, CRM and trade marketing - to drive further growth to the website and engagement with the brand’s community of users.

CBS executive to lead 10 Interactive sales team

Network Ten has appointed Christian Williams as its director of 10 Interactive, the company's digital sales team. Williams, who will be responsible for digital sales revenue and capability, including the integration of CBS Interactive’s trading platform into Ten's systems, joins from CBS Interactive in APAC. He will remain CBS Interactive programmatic trading manager but will also work in tandem with the newly formed Ten specialist sales teams. See full story here.

Rob Pardini heads up analytics

WPP AUNZ has launched a new analytics division in a bid to drive further growth within its new consulting offering. The division will be led by WPP AUNZ chief data scientist Rob Pardini, who will take on the role of managing partner, WPP AUNZ Analytics. Pardini said WPP AUNZ Analytics enables its clients to leverage the full portfolio of datasets available through WPP AUNZ, while also tapping into credit card transactions and loyalty datasets through WPP’s new data partners, including Data Republic. See full story here.

WPP's Draper lands CMO role

Former top director within WPP, Rob Draper, has joined IVE Group in the newly created role of chief marketing officer. Draper spent seven years with WPP in varying roles such as MD of Barrows Asia Pacific and Geometry Global Australia. See full story here.

Cherry swaps PHD for Blue 449

Blue 449 has boosted its strategy offering with the appointment of Anna Cherry. Prior to this role as head of strategy Cherry was PHD’s head of strategy in Melbourne, tasked with building momentum for clients including Carlton United Brewery’s, ANZ Bank, Vocus Communications, 7-Eleven amongst others. Based in Blue 449’s Melbourne office, she will be responsible for leading the national strategy offering.

Hello Social hires new trio

Social media marketing agency Hello Social has hired Joshua Tan as campaign director, Alexandra Lawson as PR and senior influencer marketing manager and Sam Rix as client services manager. Tan joins from Ogilvy Australia where he was senior social media manager/creative – working on brands such as IBM, Optus Business, KFC, Amex, and Coca-Cola. Lawson has more than six years of experience in public relations, events, influencer marketing and social media and joins from N2N Communications. Rix has worked in the Fox Sports digital marketing team, as well as with sports agency 20FOUR.

Pacific bolsters ranks

Andrew Brain has been appointed director of digital sales at Pacific. Brain joins Pacific following stints at Australian Radio Network, Adshel and Bauer Media where he held a series of top-level digitally-focused executive roles. His remit involves the commercialisation of Pacific’s digital assets including the publisher’s programmatic offering and its video strategy.
