Less than a month after retaining its South Australian Government account and adding more functional parts of it, MEC Adelaide has appointed Ten's Adelaide sales manager Royce Zygarlicki as its managing director.

It's part of a host of changes in Adelaide, with current managing director Peter Bucklow to step back to a non-executive chairman role and Matt Hofmeyer being promoted to general manager.

Zygarlicki's appointment as managing director was made after four years in the Ten role, where he led a team which built strategic multi-platform proposals.

Meanwhile, Hofmeyer's promotion is recognition of his management of the master SA government account, which it recently retained, beating out Starcom.

“Matt has been with MEC for ten years and has worked on many of our agency’s largest clients. This is great recognition of the value that he has added to our agency,” Bucklow, said

MEC Australia CEO Peter Vogel said Bucklow would be vital as both Zygarlicki and Hofmeyer grew into the roles.

“In this role Peter will ensure the smooth running of the business under its new management structure. Peter has done an outstanding job of growing MEC in Adelaide. I am pleased that he will continue to provide support and guidance to the agency as it moves into the future,” he said.

“We have a very talented team at MEC in Adelaide, and I am really excited and confident about our future growth prospects in South Australia under our new leadership structure.”

Zygarlicki's move is not the only one from Ten to media agency land in recent times, with Ten's now ex-head of revenue strategy, Sarah Keith, moving to head up Publicis trading desk Vivaki's trading unit.
