VivaKi Australia has hired Network Ten's head of revenue strategy, Sarah Keith, to head-up its trading unit.

Keith has more than 20 years’ experience in media and communications, and as well as leading the trading unit she will be responsible for overseeing future technologies and marketplace strategies.

In her new role, Keith will work closely with the Publicis Groupe agencies’ client portfolios including Starcom MediaVest Group Australia, ZenithOptimedia and Razorfish to oversee and manage all of the Groupe’s trading deals.

VivaKi chair, Australia and New Zealand Kevin Malloy said: “We are delighted to have someone of Sarah's calibre join us. She shares our vision of where the industry is heading and the need to be future facing.”

SMG Australia CEO Chris Nolan added: “Sarah will be a great addition to our team, leading our commercial and technology partnerships.”

Keith's appointment comes less than a week since the group expanded its stable with Publicis acquiring independent media agency Match Media for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition also marked the launch of ZenithOptimedia's Blue 449 network in Australia and the Match acquisition is described as “the vanguard” of its expansion in the Asia-Pacific region.

ZenithOptimedia CEO Ian Perrin said of Keiths appointment: “We have worked hard to find someone of Sarah's talent and we look forward to redefining how VivaKi operates in the local market behind her leadership and drive.”

The news follows Publicis agencies Starcom MediaVest and Zenith Optimedia bringing programmatic in-house, integrating their trading capabilities.

The group said last month that its programmatic expertise will be moved upstream into agencies, with each agency able to negotiate commercial terms with their clients based on an individual basis.

Keith joins the business on 22 June.
