This week we head to Sydney to talk to King Content's content strategist Phil Brown.

Duration in current role/time at the company:

Four months.

In one sentence, how would you describe what the company does?

Content marketing strategy through to implementation, execution, distribution, amplification and measurement.

In one sentence, what does your role involve?

Delivering content strategies to clients that meet their overall strategic business objectives through relevant content marketing activity. And ping pong.

Within the last six months/year, what stands out as the company’s major milestones?

2015 was a big year - King Content was awarded Content Marketing Agency of the Year by the Content Marketing Institute and was sold after just five years of operation to Isentia for $48 million.

Best thing about the industry you work in:

We are at the forefront of the biggest change to marketing in the last 50 years.

Previous industry related (ad land/ad tech) companies you have worked at:

I’ve been client side for a few years now but otherwise ADMA, Stellar Entertainment, and Red Pepper Design.

Career-wise, where do you see yourself in three years' time?

Running a content marketing agency.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?

I used to run an award-winning restaurant.

Top networking tip:

LinkedIn, I love it.

My favourite restaurant for a business lunch is:

Nomad – it’s across the road.

My favourite advert is:

Still the Cadbury gorilla.

My must-have gadget is:

Is the internet a gadget?

My favourite media is:

Walkie Talkies – that shit never gets old.

My favourite TV show is:

Game of Thrones – boobs, dragons and sword fighting, what’s not to like?

The last book I read:

Breath by Tim Winton (truth be known I didn’t actually read it, I listened to the audio book on the long drive to holidaying in Byron).

My mantra / philosophy is:

KISSS or simplify, simplify, simplify.

I got into advertising/ad tech/marketing etc because:

I’m a natural storyteller and we seem to eat a lot of cake. I like cake and ping pong.

If I wasn't doing this for a living, I'd be:

Owning and running a cafe that shuts about 3pm each afternoon across the road from a beach.

In five years' time I'll be:

Running my own content marketing agency.

Define your job in one word:

Satisfying.

What's your poison:

It’s dry January so currently protein shakes.
