After much speculation, Southern Cross Austereo has announced TV and radio superstars Hamish and Andy will be taking over 2Day FM's national drive show from July 2015.

The news follows a report from AdNews that the pair had been offered a lucrative $10 million deal to take a position at the radio network, in a bid to boost its ratings.

SCA announced that until July, current 2Day FM breakfast presenter Jules Lund will host the drive show starting in January. As part of the shuffle, current drive presenters Dan and Maz will be making the leap into 2Day FM Breakfast.

SCA executive director of metropolitan operations Guy Dobson said: “It’s a great day for radio when Hamish and Andy do five days in a row, live, which means it’s a great day for Southern Cross Austereo. It’s also fantastic when we get to promote young talent like we’ve done so many times in the past, to spearhead your key players. Dan and Maz will do exceptional radio waking up Sydney at 2Day FM.”

Hamish and Andy currently occupy a one-hour slot from 3-4pm called 'Happy Hour' on the 2Day network, but haven't been on the air full-time since the end of 2010.

The speculation follows declines across most segments across the 2Day network in Sydney in the GfK ratings.

The network has been particularly hard hit following the departure of number one breakfast show hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie O for rival station Kiis.

While current breakfast presenter Merrick Watts was not mentioned in the lineup, SCA said Watts will be involved with the network in 2015 and that it would make an announcement of his role going forward.
