WPP's GroupM has won PayPal's global media account after a year-long pitch.

Previously, several agencies worked on the account Havas handled most of the European business, while the rest was shared between Dentsu’s iProspect and Publicis Groupe’s Spark Foundry.

Locally the incumbent was dentsu's iProspect.

Now the account will be serviced by Mindshare, AdNews understands.

Leanne Sheraton, PayPal CMO, told AdAge the brand was drawn to the agency’s approach to full-funnel performance marketing using data and analytics tools to reach businesses and consumers wherever they are.

"With over 431 million active accounts globally, customers’ needs and behaviors are changing quickly," Sheraton said.

"Together, we will partner to grow PayPal from an online payments leader to reimagining the many ways PayPal will empower our customers to thrive in the global economy."

Mindshare welcomed back Unilever's $40M account in ANZ after a competitive pitch, in September.

GroupM and dentsu has no comment.
