Facebook has tapped long-time agency creative Steve Coll to head up its Creative Shop.

Coll had recently left With Collective after four years as its chief creative officer and creative partner.

He’s had extensive experience in the agency world, having worked as executive creative director at Droga5 and Havas Worldwide Australia.

He has also worked at Leo Burnett in Sydney and AMV BBDO in London.

Coll begins at the social media giant this week as head of Creative Shop for Australia and New Zealand.

Creative Shop is Facebook’s internal team of creative strategist, which includes designers, writers and data experts. It works with agencies and brands to help run more efficient campaigns across its platforms.

Will Easton, MD of Facebook Australia, says the appointment of Coll will help the social media platform better collaborate with agencies.

“We couldn’t be more excited that someone of Steve’s calibre is joining Facebook,” Easton says.

“He is a key contributor to the wider industry and has an infectious enthusiasm about how technology and creativity can co-exist to deliver meaningful outcomes.

“With the pace and scale of innovation there has never been a more important time for Facebook to collaborate with our creative community.”

Coll replaces Andy Simpson who has returned to the US Creative Shop team after two years in Australia.

“It’s rare to get an opportunity to do something completely different at work,” Coll says.

“So naturally, after 20 plus years in creative agencies, including a wonderful four years at With Collective, I’m incredibly excited to join Facebook.”
