Seven’s new program The Big Music Quiz has beaten The Block and Australian Survivor to win Sundeay night ratings, with 1.21 million metro viewers tuning into the music quiz show based on a French format.

The family-friendly show, which begins at 7pm, is a less serious version of Spicks and Specks, featuring a host of Seven's own celebrities in a music trivia battle in between a whole load of dancing and shouting. It's hosted by former The Voice host Darren McMullen.

Its strong debut follows the successful launch episode of Zumbo’s Just Desserts, which also garnered an audience of more than a million, but has fallen away since.

The Block produced a strong audience of 1.15 million viewers for the first reveals in a derelict soap and candle factory in Melbourne.

Ten’s Survivor was the top trending TV show of the night on Twitter, with The Bachelor host Osher Gunsberg, comedian Joel Creasey and media personality Chrissie Swan tweeting about the program.

However, the reality show drew a metro audience of 662,000 to watch strategy man Evan sent home.

During the program, Survivor sponsors Ahm insurance and Holden joined in the conversation on Twitter.
