Viva Energy Australia has appointed former Myer senior marketer Andrew Egan as general manager of marketing.

Egan worked with Myer for more than two years as group general manager or marketing where he led the omni-channel brand management across marketing, digital, loyalty and data which was closely aligned to customer insights.

The appointment comes as Viva Energy plans to "renew" its focus on retail customers.

Viva Energy executive general manager consumer Megan Foster says Via Energy welcomed Egan's "skillset".

"He brings with him a wealth of retail expertise and a proven track record in delivering consumer marketing and loyalty programmes across a number of relevant retail sectors," Foster says.

"As we continue to grow our retail sites and price competitiveness across the country, Andrew’s market oriented and customer centric approach brings a breadth of skills, knowledge and expertise which will be invaluable to our retail channel’s long term success."

Egan's career spans both agency and marketing, including tenures at JWT and Ogilvy, working across multiple sectors including; retail department stores, aviation, FMCG, publishing, liquor, insurance and financial services.

"I’m delighted to be joining one of Australia’s leading and most respected energy companies. I look forward to leveraging my experience in data and consumer insights to help Viva Energy grow its retail offering and brand across the country."

Egan is the latest marketer to leave Myer, after a wave of redundancies were made at the department store with Myer executive GM of marketing and customer Louise Pearson named as one of 30 executives forced to exit.

The company has also seen a rotating roster of CEOs and directors, with former deputy CEO and chief marketing and merchandising officer, Daniel Bracken departing in January and its most recent CEO Richard Umbers being forced out only months later.

Myer is currently led by chairman Garry Hounsell and CEO John King.
