When talking about KWP!, two words spring to mind which have likely never shared close proximity: Adelaide and powerhouse – well, powerhouse may be too strong, but there is roll here.
KWP! is based on a simple philosophy: “Put the people who have the ideas in direct contact with the people who want the ideas.”
Or maybe it’s not such a simple philosophy. KWP!’s modus operandi is to be hands-on, nimble, flexible, disruptive. It is guided by the tenets: “Do great work. Have fun. Make a fair profit.” Its work runs the gamut, from workmanlike to funny to truly inspired.
It is a favourite of Adelaide advertisers – including the Adelaide Advertiser – and boasts a solid list of South Australian brands, although it has admitted the line-up may have become too Adelaide-focused of late, and flagged a more aggressive push for new business in other states.
To that end, joint managing partners John Baker and Sylvia Mason, appointed in 2010 to reshape the agency for the next five years, are on a mission to take back some of the ‘nimbleness’ and breathe new life into the business.
That meant a restructure of its media, production and account management teams, with more senior talent brought on board. Its full-service offering is one of its key selling points, but part of the new direction will mean putting a greater emphasis on its online, digital and events capabilities.
