Steve Back, Ogilvy & Mather's chief creative officer, is leaving the agency after just 18 months in the role.

Ogilvy doesn't appear to be replacing him directly, judging by comments from Ogilvy Australia’s CEO David Fox.

He said: “Steve has helped to build creative capability across both offices leading to stronger creative collaboration between Sydney and Melbourne.”

“We have an incredible team of creatives both in Sydney and Melbourne who are now well-versed in taking an approach as one office where required. We feel confident that they can continue to produce outstanding creative work that works both for local and national clients under the guidance of each city’s respective creative leadership.”

It is not known where Back is moving to.

He joined in February last year from Ogilvy & Mather's Singapore office.

The news comes just days after AdNews revealed Vodafone was reviewing the account with Ogilvy, with the agency saying it would not seek to retain the business.

BMW has also announced it is undergoing a creative agency review which Ogilvy will participate in.
