Henry Tajer exits IPG Mediabrands after two years as global CEO

Henry Tajer, global CEO of IPG Mediabrands, is leaving the media network after just two years in the global gig and will return to Australia. It is understood IPG Mediabrands chair Philippe Krakowsky will take over Tajer's direct reports. Tajer was previously CEO of the Australian business and built the local operation into one of Mediabrands' most successful divisions. Since his move, he tapped a raft of top Australian talent for global roles with IPG. Uber names eBay marketer as Australia CMO

Uber has appointed its first chief marketing officer in Australia. Steve Brennen, former eBay Australia CMO, joined the taxi app firm three months ago. He heads up all marketing activity and reports to Uber Australia general manager David Rohrsheim. Brennen was eBay CMO for four years, leading its marketing, PR and brand development. He is also chair of the ADMA board. Read more about Uber here.  

APEX’s Pippa Leary joins Nine in senior sales roles

APEX CEO Pippa Leary has joined Nine in the new role of commercial director of digital sales as the network plans to grow programmatic sales. Leary has spent the past three years as CEO of Fairfax-Nine programmatic exchange APEX and prior to that held senior executive roles at Fairfax Media, including managing director of the publisher’s digital media division. The move comes as the company shuffles its executive team, which sees Ben Gunn promoted to the role of director of agency sales, Amy Schubert take on the role of director of sales and content partnership for 9Honey, and Nathan Powell move to director of sales of digital product. APN's Richard Herring appointed independent chairman of OzTAM

APN Outdoor CEO Richard Herring has been appointed independent chairman of OzTam. Herring has been in the media industry for more than thirty years and has been CEO of APN Outdoor since 2004. He is also a board member and past chairman of the Outdoor Media Association (OMA) and its measurement system, MOVE. Mr Herring’s appointment follows Mr Anderson’s decision to step down as OzTam chairman to focus on his recent appointment as CEO of MediaWorks New Zealand. Media man Michie moves to ABC

Former ZenithOptimedia (ZO) chief innovation officer turned director of Guardian Labs Australia, Aaron Michie, has now moved to the ABC. Michie, who worked at ZO under Ian Perrin for more than four years, left the media agency after Perrin's exit. After heading up the Guardian's branded content arm for 13 months, he's now part of the ABC's senior commercial team as its head of commercial development. More on the move here

Cummins&Partners promotes from within to fill Adam Ferrier's CSO spot

Cummins&Partners Melbourne managing director Tom Ward has stepped up to fill former chief strategy officer Adam Ferrier’s role, following his departure from the agency. Ferrier’s exit was announced earlier this year, alongside ECDs Jim Ingram and Ben Couzens. The trio are set to launch a new venture based in Melbourne in coming weeks.
Cummins&Partners CEO Chris Jeffares will take on the day-to-day management of the Melbourne-office having also recently hired Dan Ingall as MD of their Sydney operation, working closely with Tom Martin and Julian Schreiber as co-ECDs. More here.
