Publicis Media-owned agency Zenith has been appointed to the media account for the City of Melbourne.

The City of Melbourne has appointed Zenith to handle its media strategy, planning and buying account following a tender process involving a number of undisclosed agencies.

The agency has previously carried out project work for the City of Melbourne but will now manage all campaign media activity.

“We’re delighted to be partnering with the City of Melbourne as their media agency of record. The rich diversity of the city, with its thriving business, tourism, arts and cultural community, makes it an exciting and dynamic brand to work with," Zenith Melbourne GM Megan Kay says.

Among its many accolades, Melbourne has been ranked the world's most liveable city for a record-breaking seven consecutive years, from 2011 to 2017, by The Economist Intelligence Unit.

This is one of the first major account wins for Zenith this year, which has been quiet of the new business front in 2019. At the start of the year it picked up the media account for mining giant Rio Tinto.

Elsewhere within Publicis, sister media agency Spark Foundry has seen a slate of new business wins over the past several months following its merger with Blue 449.

New business wins for Spark include the likes of paint giant PPG IndustriesCancer Council NSW and American toy manufacturer MGA Entertainment Australia being added to its portfolio.

Publicis Media itself is going through a raft of changes, as it looks to sort out its current leadership structure, with both Spark Foundry and Starcom left without leaders following the departure of Sue Squillace and the promotion of Toby Barbour to CEO of Publicis Media.
