Our Young Gun profile takes a look at some of the young talent across the advertising, adtech, marketing and media sector in Australia. It aims to shed light on the varying roles, people and companies across the buzzing industry.

Today we speak to 10 ViacomCBS account manager, Effect, Adriana Mastroianni.

Time in current role/time at the company:
Two years.

How long have you been in the industry?
Five years in marketing and two years in media.

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
I have no idea how I got here – but I’m so glad I did. I didn’t really have a plan but falling into marketing and media felt like the right fit for me. Moving to 10 ViacomCBS cemented that.

Who is your right-hand person?
I’m so lucky to be surrounded by people who have a real passion for their job and who make work fun. I look up to Namita Sopal, (national strategy lead – Imagine), every day because she inspires me to continually grow my skills and think differently. I’m also so grateful to have Travis Kirk, (group sales manager), as my right-hand, and for making me a part of the ‘OCD A-Team’.

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?
There are so many things! I love taking new ideas and opportunities to clients – technology and creatives are always evolving at 10 ViacomCBS. And, of course, the agencies, clients, and my team are awesome people.

And the biggest challenge?
The biggest challenge, yet the most rewarding part of my job, is staying ahead of the curve to impress our agencies and clients.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
I’m not sure just yet! My role at 10 ViacomCBS gives me the opportunity to work across lots of teams so I’m enjoying finding out which area I love best. I would love to be Zoe Foster Blake’s 2IC, if that role ever came up.

Where do you turn for inspiration?
Mainly my friends and family, and of course my amazing colleagues. I’m also obsessed with the Shameless Podcast and their book The Space Between - it helped to bring the ‘everyday’ into perspective.

My favourite advert is:
The current eBay Tuesday ads are my favourite. They are simple and clever, which makes them so funny - “We should get sushi, Carol.”

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?
If I wasn’t at 10 ViacomCBS, I would be studying to become a midwife.

In five years’, time I'll be:
Who knows! I just hope I’m really happy and kicking goals at work and in my personal life.
