Twitter Australia is seeking a head of consumer marketing to bolster the social network's efforts in the marketing space.

The Australian arm of the site has been in the market since September 2013 and has created this role to further the brand's consumer engagement.

This is the first time Twitter Australia will have undertaken any consumer marketing.

A job ad tweeted this morning said: “Twitter is looking for a highly analytical, experienced head of consumer marketing to lead the strategic development, execution and measurement of marketing across the Australian market.

“The marketing director will lead cross-functional teams and partners to build results-driven marketing initiatives. Using paid, owned and earned channels to build the Twitter brand and drive activation and activity on the Twitter platform.

“This role will report into the global consumer marketing team in San Francisco and will work closely across teams. As a part of the consumer marketing team, you will be responsible for taking ownership of the consumer marketing strategy and execution in a way that is consistent and complementary to Twitter’s global brand.”

There are approximately 2.8 million active Australian twitter users.
