With love triangles no longer on our TV screens, news shows were the viewing of choice last night with Seven News taking out top spot in the TV ratings.

Seven News drew an audience of 915,000 viewers, helping the network come out on top of the overnight audience share according to overnight preliminary ratings from Oztam.

Seven took 28.4% of the overnight audience share, only just beating out the Nine Network on 28%.

Non-news programs in the top 10 were few and far between, with only Home and Away and Kings Cross ER, with those programs drawing in an audience of 777,000 and 683,000 respectively.

The ABC had three programs in the top 10 giving the network a total audience share of 19%, beating out Network Ten that drew in a total audience of 18.4%.
