Network Ten is beefing up its Sydney sales team with the appointment of Southern Cross Austereo's Carla Vella to the newly created role of Sydney sales director.

The new role will be Vella's first foray into TV land, having had stints at SCA and Adshel Street Furniture.

Ten's chief sales officer, Louise Barrett, said Ten would leverage Vella's relationships in the Sydney market to build on Ten's presence.

“Carla is one of the best in the business. She has a great understanding of the Sydney market and is highly skilled at building strategic alliances with marketers and agencies,” Barrett said.

The move comes as Ten's Sydney trading director, Grant Madigan, takes on a national role.

He will become the national trading manager for Ten, reporting to head of trading and general manager in Brisbane Rod Prosser.
