NewsLifeMedia has appointed Telstra GM of marketing operations Robin Parkes to the newly created role of chief operating officer. She will lead its expansion into new markets, products and services.

Before her role at Telstra, Parkes was the inaugural CEO of Freeview TV and executive director of Magazine Publishers Australia.

NewsLifeMedia CEO Nicole Sheffield revealed Parkes will be responsible for driving operational efficiencies and the growth of business units.

This follows yesterday's news of general manager of marketing for Telstra Michaela Chan moving to Ooh!Media as CMO.

“Robin’s impressive media and content background will be integral to driving our goals and enhancing our market leading position as we expand into new markets and launch innovative new products and services,” Sheffield said.

“She will be responsible for strategic execution and operational efficiencies across brand, audience development and profitability.

“As the transformation and growth of our business continues, this is an important appointment for the ongoing evolution of NewsLifeMedia.”

Parkes' role is effective 21 September.
