Foxtel has handed creative duties for both the Foxtel brand and Fox Sports to TBWA after a competitive pitch against Clemenger BBDO Melbourne.

AdNews understands The Monkeys had been a contender in the early stages of the pitch, which was called by Mark Buckman when he took the role of managing director of customer and retail at Foxtel. Buckman had worked with The Monkeys in his previous role as Telstra CMO, but as the agency still holds the telco account it was deemed to be a conflict of interest as Telstra owns 50% of Foxtel.

This marks the first time that creative for Foxtel and Fox Sports has been handled by one agency and is an effort to make sure they are strategically aligned.

Cummins&Partners previously held the creative account for Fox Sports and the loss will be a blow to the creative shop.

Rob Farmer, Foxtel director of brand marketing for content and products says: “It’s incredibly important for us to be united in how we go to market and, ultimately, it’s all part of the Foxtel platform and so we think we are stronger together and we are really excited about having this alignment.”

Foxtel also has in-house agency Felix, which will continue to work alongside TBWA.
