Stayz pulls Airbnb-style Christmas rental stunt with Westfield

Stayz is going for an Airbnb-style stunt by partnering with Westfield to list its Bondi Junction shopping mall for a one night rental.

Stays has created a holiday rental space fit for a family of four within the mall, and claims it has “all the bells and whistles” of its usual holiday rentals including a cinema on the doorstep, and “the ultimate walk in wardrobe” (namely hundreds of shops).

The partnership is reminiscent of Airbnb's stunt which offered an overnight stay in Ikea last year.

Included in the $1 listing is a shopping spree at David Jones designed to take the stress out of Christmas shopping.

The listing will give the lucky winner a shopping voucher and access to the mall ahead of its opening hours on Christmas Eve. It also includes meals and access to the personal shopping service.

The “rental”, listed here, goes live on Tuesday 15 December for one hour.

Stayz marketing director, David Dunstan, said: “Christmas is always our busiest time of the year with travellers flocking to holiday towns across the country to enjoy the break. The lead up to Christmas, and particularly Christmas shopping, seems to be the most stressful so we decided to do something about it.”
