Here's who's in the lead so far:
Tomorrow we'll update the league table showing which agencies and individuals are climbing up the table. The more social shares and likes your posts receive – the more points you get.
Thomas Lyngsfeldt, head of digital and business development at Social Soup, said the first day got off to a great start with more than 80 entries from 17 media agencies, and 17,500 people engaging with Humans of Media on Facebook. The posts reached 89,823 people in 16 hours.
The winning story came from Joe Licciardi from Starcom who has smashed to the top of the leaderboard. His story will now be promoted on Facebook and Instagram delivering over 1.5 million impressions to the audience people 16-25 the coming week:
"We have also been inundated by social, digital and media owners to participate which shows there is an appetite for a competition with agencies outside media and this is something we are considering now for the future,” Lyngsfeldt said.
The Social media Showdown is being launched by Social Soup in partnership with AdNews and Facebook, which is providing a trip to Silicon Valley for the winner. It will find out which people and agencies are the slickest at social through weeklong series of activations. There's points up for grabs for each social task that will put players into a league table to battle it out for the top spots – both individually – and for their agency. The more you participate and the more social shares you get – the more points.
All the details of the daily initiative, how to enter and participate will be on AdNews every day this week. Each day, we'll also update the league table to see which individuals and agencies are in the lead before announcing the final scores. There's prizes throughout the week from a smartwatch to trip to Silicon Valley courtesy of Facebook and Instagram, for the overall winner.
Here's all the social tags you need for the week long series of events.
