Samsung has named a replacement for former CMO Arno Lenior, promoting Phillip Newton to vice president, chief marketing officer.

Newton, former vice president of consumer electronics, takes on the role immediately.

He has been with Samsung for seven years, and has 25 years experience in consumer electronics.

Newton will be responsible for driving marketing communications and leading the corporate marketing team across audio visual, home appliances, information technology and enterprise business technology.

It is not yet known where Lenior is taking up a role, but he is currently on gardening leave, suggesting it could be a competitor.
