Saatchi & Saatchi has won the lead creative account for the St George Banking Group brands including BankSA and Bank of Melbourne.

The agency has been working with the St George brand since 2013. The new account wins are an extension of this relationship and were not out for pitch.

St George Banking Group GM for marketing and customer experience, Martine Jager, said the agency won the account because of its customer-focused ideas. It previously worked on St George's “start something” campaign which was designed to encourage people to build something for themselves.

“It was a tough decision with so many creative agencies producing outstanding work for our brands over a number of years – but we are very excited to move our South Australian and Victorian brands to their next phase with Saatchi & Saatchi,” Jager said.

“I'm confident that Saatchi's creative thinking will help us to clearly differentiate ourselves in the market.”

Lavender will still remain the below the line creative agency for the St George Group brands and AJF Partnership is still the creative agency for the Rams brand.

Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Michael Rebelo said the partnership will see some “exciting times ahead”.

“It is a great privilege to be expanding our St George partnership with these iconic South Australian and Victorian brands,” he said.

AdNews reported in January that Saatchi & Saatchi would be launching a Melbourne agency to service the Bank of Melbourne account.

It’s thought that a team of between 10 and 15 is being assembled to service the account as well as grow Saatchi & Saatchi’s footprint in Melbourne.
