Saatchi & Saatchi is launching an agency in Melbourne. The office was set up at the end of December to service its Bank of Melbourne client, AdNews understands.

It’s thought that a team of between 10 and 15 is being assembled to service the account as well as grow Saatchi & Saatchi’s footprint in Melbourne.

One of Saatchi & Saatchi’s largest accounts is Toyota, and the Melbourne move would also tie in with the car brand’s plans to move its marketing function down to Melbourne by 2018. The announcement was made last December as part of its moves to consolidate functions as it prepares to cease manufacture vehicles in Australia in 2017.

Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Michael Rebelo told AdNews at the end of last year that there was momentum building in Melbourne for the previously Sydney-based agency.

Saatchi & Saatchi was unavailable for comment at the time of writing.
