The Gunn Report for Media 2014, which is a global index for the most awarded agencies, has just been released and again OMD tops the table, for the ninth consecutive year no less.

The report noted that OMD's star offices were OMD Singapore, OMD UK, OMD Colombia, and OMD MENA.

Starcom MediaVest came in second place, with PHD coming in third, Mindshare fourth, and UM in fifth.

PHD was the prime mover in the report, entering the top three for the first time with four Gold Media Lions at Cannes, the most of any other media agency.

Meanwhile, Australia was the eighth-most awarded country in the world, with the US topping the table with 424 points followed by the UK on 309.

Interestingly, New Zealand was three points away from cracking the top five, being edged out for fifth spot by France with 172 points.

On the client side, Coca-Cola was the most awarded advertiser, with McDonald's coming in second and Samsung in third.

There are 12 media agencies in the top 20 with eight agencies making up the rest. However, Gunn thinks there's a pretty simple way for advertising agencies to start climbing the rankings.

“Media agencies seem to have understood that, if they want to see their position recognised at festivals, and if they want to reinforce their role with clients, they need to enter more festivals,” according to a Gunn Insight report on the new rankings.

Late last month the Gunn Report, focusing on creative, was released placing Clemenger BBDO (Sydney and Melbourne) in the top three in the 'Most Awarded Agencies in Digital in the World in 2014' category.
