News Corp Australia has appointed Del Fordham as head of audio for its audio network NewsCast.

Fordham will lead the company’s audio network strategy, working to develop original content with its brands and editorial teams.

In the newly created role, he will be reporting to Ainslee O’Brien, News Digital Networks Australia general manager of commercial networks and head of NewsCast.

“Fordham will be instrumental in driving the acceleration of our audio network and continued investment in high quality audio storytelling,” Fordham says.

“With bold ambitions for NewsCast and our commitment to delivering a market leading audio network for our consumers and our customers, we’re thrilled to have Del leading the next phase of expansion.”

Fordham has more than 15 years’ experience in audio, working at companies such as the ABC, Southern Cross Austereo and Nova Entertainment. He was most recently senior account director at Global Eagle.

“I’m passionate about original productions, on-demand content and bringing together different creators and content pillars to create synergies,” Fordham says.

“Our growth strategy and upcoming original content slate will only build on the great momentum NewsCast has.”

His appointment comes following the recent partnership between News Corp Australia and Nova Entertainment, which will amplify News Corp’s content across Nova and its partner Acast. The tie-up also means the two will co-produce podcasts.
